COSPLAY COMPETITION AT MNN 2026
The organizers of the Na meji nevidnega convention, are huge fans of cosplay, which is why we are committed to continuously improving the quality of our cosplay competitions, which are usually the highlight of the convention. From the first convention to today, we’ve seen many changes, learned a great deal, and decided on the following categories and criteria for judging.
AWARDED CATEGORIES
– Armor
– SFX & Make up
– Nneedlework
– Original character
An original character is defined as a character created by the person themselves, rather than being based on an existing anime, game, movie, or other media, and includes the person’s own character concept and custom-designed costume.
Based on the number of points awarded, we will also select the Best in Show from among all the participants, who will also represent Slovenia at the European International Cosplay Champions competition.
The People’s Choice Award is also presented based on votes cast during the show.
IDEAS AND TIPS
If you want to impress our judges, it’s especially important that your costume is polished. Even from the back, because we’ll be taking a close look at you! It’s great if you also highlight what you made yourself and what you bought, how long it all took you, etc. Be confident and proud of your work! Warning: sharp weapons, tools, or other costume parts that could injure someone do not belong at the convention, and we will be forced to confiscate them at the entrance.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
The criteria evaluated by the expert judges are as follows: the authenticity of the costume in relation to the chosen character, the quality of craftsmanship (finished work, hemmed seams, layers of paint, etc.), an attempt is also made to determine how much work the cosplayer put into specific parts, or whether they learned any new skills (craftsmanship) in making the costume, …
Please also read the competition rules below the registration form.
COMPETITION REGISTRATION PROCESS
The number of participants is limited to 25. We will consider all applications. If the number of applicants exceeds this limit, we will make a selection based on the completed application and the costume build documentation (build book).
The preliminary judging is scheduled for Saturday morning. Contestants will receive instructions at least 2 days before the event. You will also be allowed to enter the venue without waiting in line with other visitors, so you can get ready in the Cosplay Dressing Room in peace before the preliminary judging begins.

Registration takes place via an online form, the preliminary judging at a designated location, and the presentation on the main stage at the event. The location for the preliminary judging will be communicated to all contestants at least 2 days before the event, or at the info desk at the event itself.
