ABOUT COSPLAY

Cosplay is a creative way for fans to express their love for their favourite characters from the worlds of anime, movies, TV shows, video games, and comics.

If you’ve ever wanted to become your favourite hero or villain, now is your chance!

Cosplayers usually sew their own costumes, craft weapons, tools, and other props, style wigs, apply makeup, and transform into their favorite character for a while. This often includes behaving in a way that matches the character’s personality.

Whether you’re a veteran or a newbie when it comes to making costumes, whether your mom helped you sew it or you bought it on eBay, cosplay isn’t limited by age, gender, or body type. Anyone can be a cosplayer.

Some people love making costumes, others prefer wearing them, but the key is that we enjoy it. At NMN, you’ll see a huge variety of fantastic costumes, ranging from beautifully crafted to simply fun.

How to start?

Chose a character

Choose a character from your favourite anime, movie, TV show, video game, or comic book. When making your choice, consider your passion for the character, your skills, and the complexity of the costume.

Research and plan

Explore your character’s look and gather reference images. Decide whether you’ll create your costume from scratch, alter existing clothes, or buy a ready-made outfit.

Materials and equipment

Once you have a plan, start gathering materials such as fabric, patterns, and accessories. Gather your tools, including sewing machines, scissors, and glue.

Create your costume

Start putting your costume together. Pay attention to the details, and don’t let a rough start discourage you. Practice makes perfect!

Time consideration

Don’t forget to give yourself enough time to finish your project before the event. You can always reach out to the Cosplay Slovenia Facebook group for help.

Testing before event

At least one day before the event, try on your costume, apply your makeup, and put on your wig. Also try out different poses that are appropriate for your character.

Then come to the NMN convention and show off your costume to other visitors, take some photos, play a game or two, and if you’re brave enough, take the stage and compete for prizes in the COSPLAY CONTEST!
